USTB Held 30th Anniversary Commemorative Event for Graduating Classes of 1986 and 1987
The 30th anniversary commemorative meeting of the 86th and 87th grade alumni of USTB was successfully held in the school gymnasium.Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB. Prof. QUAN Liangzhu, Vice Chanceller, Prof. WANG Weicai, Prof. HE Minqing, Vice Presidents, Prof. LI Jingbo, former principal and heads of related departments and colleges, as well as more than 400 86th and 87th alumni attended the commemorative meeting. 36,000 people joined the campus live streaming platform and the USTBer wechat applet following the "Cloud Gathering" event. The commemorative meeting was hosted by two alumni, WANG Qing and WANG Xiaoyong. Prior to the the meeting, a donation ceremony of the 86th and 87th graduating class was held.
Prof. YANG Renshu, on behalf of the school and Mr. WU Guilong, expressed their sincerest welcome and greetings to the 86th and 87th alumni hoping that the alumni will continue to provide advice and suggestions for the development of their alma mater. USTB will also continue to construct a platform to further gather and serve its alumni, and USTB will always be a solid backbone and warm harbor for everyone.
The 90-year-old former president LI Jingbo expressed his warmest welcome to the 86th and 87th alumni returning to their alma mater. Li has fondly recalled the campus time he spent with his classmates 30 years ago. Li addressed that the country and the university has made significant development and achievements in the past 30 years, which is inseparable from the contributions made by the alumni of the 86th and 87th grades in their respective jobs.
LIANG Bing from the class of 86 who has majored in Metal physics, MA Shuyun from the class of 87 who has majored in physical chemistry, ZHU Haitao from the class of 87 who has majored in Metallurgical Engineering, and HAN Mingxia from the class of 86 who has majored in Thermal energy, respectively expressed their gratitude to their alma mater. They have combined their own experiences and recalled their four years of youth in the university. And they said that in the future, they will continue to contribute to the reform and development of their alma mater.
Before the commemoration meeting, more than 20 long-distance running enthusiasts have gathered in the main building square and walked 6.9 kilometers to start the alumni returning to school commemorative event with hugs and warm greetings.
In order to reduce the feeling of regret for those alumni who cannot return to school to participate in commemorative activities due to the prevention and control of the epidemic, the Office of the Alumni Association, Office of IT, Publicity Section, and the Ministry of Education and Industry have jointly launched a number of "cloud gathering" platforms through the campus live streaming platform and USTBer creating a warm, enthusiastic, synchronized and immersive gathering atmosphere for the 86th and 87th alumni.
