Exchange Student Programs

The Exchange Student Program is for students from USTB’s partner universities who wish to study at USTB for one or two semesters and transfer credits to their home institution. To be an exchange student, applicants must be officially nominated by their home institution. Please consult the international office of your home institution to find out if there is an exchange agreement with USTB.

Normally, exchange students are allowed to choose all the courses offered in the exchange period, on condition that the exchange students have sufficient knowledge to meet the course requirements. In USTB, most courses are taught in Chinese, some in English, and some in both Chinese and English. Applicants must have a good academic record, display a suitable level of competence in English or Chinese.

2) Course-taking Programs in Chinese

USTB offers 53 bachelor programs and 138 master programs which are taught in Chinese. Please browse every respective websites of schools for more information. You can also refer to the International Office of USTB for detailed information.

3) Research Programs

Master students are encouraged to apply, if USTB doesn’t offer relevant courses for their majors. They are encouraged to do academic research in USTB, supervised by the professors of USTB. They are entitled to use all the facilities and resources like all other USTB students.

For supervisors’ information, please search the following web pages by colleges.

Step 1. Consult the program coordinator at your home institution, and find out the steps you need to follow.

Step 2. Prepare the required application documents and submit them on http://onlineapply.ustb.edu.cn/.

Step 3. Application reviewed by USTB, and please wait for admission notice.

Step 4. Prepare for your study at USTB (including visa, accommodation, air tickets, insurance, and financial support, etc.).

5. Letter of recommendation by your advising professor

6. Certificate of Enrollment at home university

7. Certificate of Health

8. Life Insurance during your stay in China (to be checked upon arrival in USTB)

9. Photocopy of passport

Student Application Form

1, Students who live in the dormitory will be registered for Residence Permit by dorm reception.

2, Students who live off campus must register to the local police station for Residence Permit by themselves within 24 hours.

Students admitted to USTB may apply for X visa at the Chinese Embassy in your country with your Admission Letter and JW201/202 Form, which will valid for 30 days after you arrived in China. You must come to Office of International Affairs and apply for a Study Residence Permit within 30 days.
