High-Level Athletes of USTB Achieved Good Results in the 59th Capital University Track and Field Games

The 59th Capital University Student Track and Field Games was held at Tsinghua University from May 13 to 16. USTB won the third place in the total score of women's team and men's team in Group A (high level group), and was awarded the "Sportsmanship Award".
The Games were hosted by the Municipal Education Commission and the Municipal Sports Bureau, and organized by the Beijing University Sports Association and Tsinghua University. At the opening ceremony, Professor Zhang Rongjiang, a teacher from the University of Science and Technology Beijing and the event director of the Games, took an oath on behalf of the referees. Our school sent a total of 37 high-level athletes. Mr.Quan Liangzhu, Vice Chancellor of the university, came to the competition site to cheer for them on behalf of all the teachers and students. There are 44 items in Group A (high-level group) of this college track and field games. After four days of fierce competition, our athletes, who struggle tenaciously and actively while abiding by the sportsmanship, successfully completed all the registered items and ranked the top eight in 34 items.
As an important event with profound historical and cultural heritage and sporting spirit, the Capital University Track and Field Games has witnessed the brilliant history of vigorous development of Beijing higher education institutions in the past 60 years, along with the growth of new China's higher education. It has set up a platform for the exchange and exhibition of talents for the physical education teaching, the competitive level of track and field events and the construction of campus culture in the capital universities. The Games were a large-scale student sports event held under the circumstance of strict epidemic prevention and control in Beijing. Nearly 1,400 college athletes from 64 universities in the city took part in 61 track and field events.
Track and field is our traditional advantageous project, which has been attracting much attention. Over the years, our university has cultivated a large number of outstanding high-level track and field athletes, and has come out of a successful way to cultivate high-level athletes in colleges and universities. In the future, our school will address the layout and shortcoming of track and field events, expand enrollment, strengthen the management of sports teams, improve the scientific training level and management level, further improve the athletic level of our school track and field events, and continue to maintain and carry forward the fine sports tradition.
