The 19th National University Young Moral Education Workers Forum was Successfully Held

In order to deeply study and implement the spirit of President XI Jinping’s important speech at the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, deepen the reform and innovation of ideological work in universities in the new era, and promote the exchange, discussion and growth of young moral education workers, the editorial office of Ideological Education Research organized the 19th National University Young Moral Education Workers Forum from November 6th to 7th. The Forum was co-organized by Training and Research Center of Ideological and Political Work Team of Ministry of Education (Southwest Jiaotong University), Training and Research Center of Ideological and Political Work Team of Ministry of Education (University of Science and Technology Beijing), School of Marxism Education at University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, School of Marxism at Southwest Jiaotong University, and School of Marxism at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. The forum is conducted online and offline, more than 30,000 watched the live streaming, including Marxist theory research experts and scholars, government officials, ideological and political teachers, counselors, Communist Youth League cadres, and graduate representatives majored in Marxist theory subjects from universities all over the country.At the opening ceremony, Mr. YU Chengwen, Vice Chancellor of USTB, expressed warm welcome and thanks to all the participants. He introduced USTB’s achievements in the innovation and development of ideological and political work and the reform and innovation in recent years, and called on the representatives to strengthen theoretical research and apply the results to moral education and ideological and political education, in order to effectively promote the ideological and political education of universities and make greater contributions for promoting high-quality development of political work and the training of newcomers of the era who can take the task of national rejuvenation. Prof. PENG Qinghong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Studies in Ideological Education presided over the opening ceremony.In the special lecture session, Prof. FENG Gang, Dean of the School of Marxism at Beijing Normal University, gave a report entitled “Promoting the High-quality Development of Ideological and Political Work in the New Era”. He summarized the experience of ideological and political work in the 100 years history of the Communist Party of China, and effectively solved the core issues of “who will do”, “how to do” and “for whom” in ideological and political work. He also stated the key contents of ideological and political work in the new era, and promoted the innovation and development of ideological and political work.Prof. LUO Yuting, Dean of the Institute of Ideological and Political Education at Wuhan University, centered on "The Interaction of Thoughts in Cyberspace and its Guidance", and gave a theoretical explanation from the three aspects of internal mechanism, time and space, and effective guidance.In the keynote session, Prof. LI Yitian, Vice Dean of School of Marxism at Tsinghua University, Prof. BAI Xianliang, Dean of School of Marxism at Southwest University, Prof. CHEN Peiyong, Vice Dean of School of Marxism at Peking University, and Prof. YAN Lianfu, Dean of School of Marxism at Xi’an Jiaotong University respectively gave the reports on "From Moral Education to Integrity Education", "Several Issues on Intelligent Ideological and Political Education", "Talking about the Political and Ideological Education for the Public in the New Era", "Profound Connotation and the Path of Practice of General Secretary XI Jinping's Important Statement".In the “Face-to-Face: Dialogue with the Editor-in-Chief” session, some issues that young moral education workers focused on, such as basic column setting, founding principle,topic selection,planning direction in 2022 and other issues,were introduced and answered in detail by Mr. LIU Junyan, Editor-in-Chief of China Youth Studies, Mr. ZHAO Yingchen, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Research on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and Mr. JIANG Xudong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Ideological and Theoretical Education.In the discussion session, Prof. GAO Di, Executive Director of the Center for Ideological and Political Education at Northeast Normal University, Prof. YANG Wei School of Marxism at Wuhan University, Prof. YANG Ziqiang, Secretary of the Youth League Committee at Renmin University of China, Prof. YANG Zengdong, Deputy Dean of the School of Marxism at Beijing Normal University, respectively exchanged and discussed on topics of "Deepen Mutual Learning among Civilizations and Enjoy the Beauty of Moral Education", "People's Material Life and Ideological and Political Education", "Challenges and Responses to Youth Moral Education in the New Era", and "Several Thoughts on Methodological Issues Leading Contemporary Social Research".In order to promote in-depth exchanges between the participants, this forum also specially set up 12 sub-forums, including President XI Jinping's New Era of Socialism with Chinese characteristics, the Study of the Theory and Practice of Party History Learning, the Reform and Innovation of New Era Ideological and Political Theory Courses, and the Construction of Ideological and Political Work Teams. More than 140 participants exchanged speeches, and 24 heads of the School of Marxism and well-known experts were invited to serve as hosts or comment experts. At the end of the forum, Prof. CHEN Yong, a special review expert of Studies in Ideological Education and professor at the School of Marxism of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), made a summary. He pointed out that the forum was held at the right time, focused on themes, rich in content, and in-depth discussions. It is an academic feast for the concentrated exchange and display of the latest university moral education research results. It called on the majority of young moral education workers to continue to carry out extensive, in-depth, comprehensive, and systematic research around the ideological and political work of universities under the guidance of President XI Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. It is reported that the National University Young Moral Education Workers Forum has been established for nearly 30 years and successfully held for 19 sessions. It has become an important platform for experts and scholars in the field of ideological and political work in universities, especially young scholars to collide ideas, learn from each other, and show their wisdom. It has played an active role in cultivating outstanding young talents for ideological and political work in universities, promoting the reform and innovation of ideological and political courses and the high-quality development of ideological and political work. The forum was held on the eve of the 70th anniversary of USTB, and it was also a gift to the anniversary with practical actions by the editorial department of Studies in Ideological Education and the School of Marxism.
