Afety Regulations for Foreign Teachers and Experts Of USTB

AFETY REGULATIONS FOR FOREIGN TEACHERS AND EXPERTS OF

THE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY BEIJING

In order to all take necessary and reasonable precautions against fire and to safeguard life and property, foreign teachers and experts are asked to bear in mind that carelessness can cost lives, that taking precautions is better than having to fight fires and that awareness and vigilance are essential at all times. They are therefore required to observe the following regulations:

1. Flammable, explosive and hazardous substances are prohibited in apartments.

2. Setting fire to paper or other materials, depositing cigarette ends that have not been extinguished, or having firecrackers in apartments are prohibited.

3. Foreign teachers and experts must not undertake electrical wiring themselves. Any requirements with regard to electrical wiring must be referred to the electrician, whose services can be obtained by phoning the International Office. Requests for damaged sockets or wires to be replaced should be made in good time.

4. In order to secure effective escape routes in the event of fire, no obstacles of any kind should be placed outside the apartment.

5. Fire extinguishers and other safety equipment should be taken good care of.

6. When leaving the apartment, electrical appliances should be switched off, windows should be closed and the door should be locked.

7. The lock to the door of the apartment should not be changed without permission as this may pose a threat in the case of emergency.

8. In accordance with Chinese laws, rules and regulations, those who contravene thee safety regulations are responsible for any accident that results.

I undertake to abide by the above regulations.
