USTB signed a contract to establish a cooperative relationship with Hokkaido University in 1986. And USTB is the first university with which Hokkaido University signed an exchange agreement. To promote mutual exchange and cooperation in scientific research, an international exchange office was set up in 2005, which was a milestone in the cooperation between the two sides.
A variety of exchanges and cooperation have been carried out, including exchange student programs, national high-level government sponsored projects, short-term internship programs, Cherry Blossom Programs and bilateral seminars. Up to now, 16 sessions of bilateral academic seminars have been successfully held, involving more than 300 students. The scope of cooperation has expanded from materials science to metallurgical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, information science, physics, chemistry, law, economic management, literature and other fields.
